Amanda T. Muskat

Overview

Amanda T. Muskat is a former federal prosecutor with extensive experience in high-stakes civil and criminal litigation. Ms. Muskat served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of California from 2019 to 2022. During her time at the U.S. Attorney's Office, Ms. Muskat successfully prosecuted federal criminal cases on behalf of the United States and its numerous law enforcement agencies, including first-chairing federal jury and bench trials, briefing cases before the Ninth Circuit, and leading criminal investigations.

Before joining the United States Attorney's Office, Ms. Muskat practiced from 2016 to 2019 in the San Diego office of the AmLaw 100 firm of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo, P.C. At Mintz, Ms. Muskat handled a variety of complex civil litigation matters and intellectual property disputes. Ms. Muskat was also active in the firm's pro bono efforts on behalf of domestic violence victims, asylum seekers, and indigent individuals.

Ms. Muskat regularly volunteers her legal efforts through her active pro bono practice and by mentoring new lawyers, including serving as a scorer for local mock trial competitions. Ms. Muskat is also involved in the broader legal community as a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and Lawyer's Club.

Ms. Muskat is a 2016 graduate of the UCLA School of Law, where she served as the Chief Managing Editor of the UCLA Women's Law Journal. She also served as judicial extern to U.S. District Judge Anthony J. Battaglia and Ninth Circuit Judge Stephen Reinhardt. Ms. Muskat obtained her undergraduate degree from Grinnell College in Iowa, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and with honors in both of her majors, History and French.
